Roosky Bridge Footpath Trial

Leitrim County Council in partnership with Roscommon County Council are carrying out “The Roosky Bridge Footpath Trial” from Monday 23rd September to Sunday 6th October 2024. 

What is Proposed and Why?

  • There is currently no designated area for pedestrians to cross Roosky Bridge. 
  • Trial of a temporary footpath over existing Roosky Bridge from Monday 23rd September to Sunday 6th October 2024.
  • Installation of temporary footpath using Bollards on the existing bridge .
  • Temporary Traffic Signals to control traffic over the bridge to one way flow.
  • Signalised pedestrian crossing on the R371 at Reynolds Pub.
  • Enhancing safety for pedestrians and cyclists wishing to cross the bridge.
  • Provide clear priority to vehicles crossing the bridge.
  • Improved pedestrian connectivity between eastern and western sides of Roosky.
