Stage 2 – Draft County Development Plan Preparation
The Chief Executive prepared the Draft County Development Plan for the period 2023 - 2029 and submitted a copy of the Draft Plan to the Elected Members on Friday 26th November 2021 for their consideration. The Elected Members have an 8-week period to consider the Draft Plan which is extended by 9 days due to the Christmas holiday period when all timelines are suspended. The Elected Members may, by resolution, amend the Draft Development Plan within this 8-week period.
At a Special Meeting of Leitrim County Council on Monday 24th January 2022, the Elected Members of the Council considered a total of 48 no. amendments submitted by individual Elected Members. This followed a series of workshops arranged at full Council and at Municipal District level during December and January. At this Special Meeting, the Elected Members resolved to place the Draft County Development Plan on display. The Planning Department incorporated the approved amendments made at this Special Meeting into the Draft Development Plan and finalised the suite of documents which accompany same.
The Draft Leitrim County Development Plan 2023-2027 will then be put on public display with a public consultation inviting submissions/observations on the content of the Draft County Development Plan to run over a 10-week period following first publication of the Draft County Development Plan in mid-February 2022.
