Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People and Disabled People.

Leitrim County Council administer the Housing Adaption Grants for Older People and Disabled People.  Details of the three grants are as follows: 

(a) The Housing Adaptation Grant for Disabled People is available to assist in the carrying out of works which are reasonably necessary for the purposes of rendering a house more suitable for the accommodation of a disabled person who is a member of that household.

(b) The Housing Aid for Older People Grant is available to assist older people living in poor housing conditions to have necessary repairs or improvements carried out, where, in the option of the authority, the repairs, whist less than those appropriate to render the house fit in every response, constitute repairs it considers are reasonably necessary to prolong the useful life of the house for the applicant.

(c) The Mobility Aids Housing Grant Scheme is to fast track grant aid to cover a basic suite of works to address mobility problems, primarily, but not exclusively, associated with ageing, in order that recipients are not subject to delays in accessing works.

The revised Housing (Adaptation Grants for Older People and Disabled People) Regulations 2024 came into effect on 1st December, 2024.  The updated regulations introduce increased maximum grant limits, higher income thresholds and additional income deductions.

If you wish to apply for grant assistance under any of the three schemes you will need to submit a fully completed application form together with all of the necessary supporting documentation.  Note:All applications submitted after 1st December, 2024 must be on the revised application form that came into effect on this date.
