Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Week: 20-29 September 2024

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a blueprint to achieve a more sustainable future for all in dealing with the global challenges including climate change and environmental degradation.  In total there are 17 SDGs with 169 associated targets, to be reached by 2030.  For more information on the 17 SDGs, select the link - THE 17 GOALS | Sustainable Development (un.org)

The National Implementation Plan for the SDGs (2022-2024) recognises local authorities as key stakeholders and emphasises the important role that local authorities can have in raising awareness of the SDGs and contributing to change.  Leitrim County Council along with a number of partners in Co. Leitrim ran a series of events as part of SDG Week 2024 addressing an array of SDGs with a particular emphasis on cross cutting with the climate action goal (where possible).
