This project addresses the specific needs of rural communities, which are often overlooked in broader digital strategies. By focusing on digital infrastructure, skills development, and innovation, the project supports rural areas in becoming more competitive and resilient.
The project emphasises learning and experience sharing among partners, regional assessments, and peer reviews of real-world cases. These activities are designed to develop strategies that enhance digital inclusion, foster innovation, and improve the delivery of public services in rural areas.
The project consortium includes partners from Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Hungary, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. These partners will share best practices and participate in joint learning events to inspire and inform regional policy improvements.
In Ireland, project partners Leitrim County Council and Westbic will work with regional stakeholders, to implement policy improvements that support digital infrastructure, skills development and innovation in rural areas, with a focus on local and regional strategies, in line with national commitments to balanced regional development.
A key component of the project is the formation of a Regional Stakeholder Group, comprising relevant local actors. This group will actively participate in policy learning and contribute to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of policy improvements.
The Digital Rural Interreg Europe Project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Europe Programme.
