Animal Welfare
Animal Welfare refers to concerns about the well-being of animals, whether farm animals or domestic pets. It embraces both the concept of actual cruelty as well as conditions of neglect that result in animals suffering unnecessarily.
All animals should be kept in conditions where they are in a position to experience the Five Freedoms:
- Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition.
- Freedom from discomfort.
- Freedom from pain, injury and disease.
- Freedom to express normal patterns of behaviour.
- Freedom from fear and distress.
Leitrim Animal Welfare provide an animal welfare service in Leitrim.
