Social Housing Support in Leitrim
Social housing support is housing provided by a local authority or an approved housing body to people who are assessed as being unable to afford housing from their own resources. Eligible applicants are placed on the Council’s Housing Waiting List.
How to apply for Social Housing Support in Leitrim?
To be considered for Local Authority Housing in Co. Leitrim, you must complete an application for Social Housing Support and return it with all relevant documentation to the Housing Department. You can only apply to one local authority for social housing support and you need to be either normally resident in the area or have a local connection to the area.

- Please ensure that you answer all questions on the application form and provide all the necessary supporting documentation in order that your application for Social Housing Support can be assessed.
- You should also refer to the checklist on page 3 of the application form to ensure that you have submitted all the necessary information.
- Invalid or incomplete applications will not be processed.

Assessment of your Housing Need
Following receipt of your housing application, your application for Social Housing Support will be assessed to determine that you are eligible for and qualified for social housing support. It should be noted that due to the volume of applications, it may take up to 12 weeks to process your application from the date of receipt of a valid application until you are notified of the outcome of your application.
Approval of your application for inclusion on the Housing Waiting List
If you are deemed eligible for and qualified for social housing support, your application will be approved for inclusion on the Housing Waiting List. You will be notified in writing that your application was successful and that you will be included on the Housing Waiting List for any future vacancies arising for standard Local Authority accommodation, Voluntary Housing Accommodation or RAS/Long-Term Leasing accommodation.

Refusal of your application for inclusion on the Housing Waiting List
If you are deemed not to qualify for inclusion on the Housing Waiting List, you will also be notified in writing of your decision and the reason as to why your application was refused. You will be offered the opportunity to appeal this decision.
