Leitrim Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) is a new initiative aimed at enhancing safety and wellbeing across County Leitrim through collaboration between local authorities, community organisations, and residents.

The LCSP is currently in its development phase, with recruitment underway for a dedicated coordinator and the formation of a representative committee to follow. This committee will include members from An Garda Síochána, Leitrim County Council, the HSE, Tusla, education and youth services, and—most importantly—local community representatives, who will make up at least 51% of the membership.

Once established, the LCSP will work to identify local safety priorities, support community-led solutions, and foster stronger connections between services and the people they serve. It will develop a Local Community Safety Plan, informed by public consultation, local data, and the lived experiences of residents, to address issues such as anti-social behaviour, substance misuse, youth engagement, and environmental safety.

This new model of community safety recognises that policing alone cannot address all safety concerns. It promotes a whole-of-community approach, where services work together and residents play an active role in shaping safer, more inclusive communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of community safety in Leitrim.

Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved.
