National Tree Week 2025

Tree-Distribution-Event

Sunday 9th March – Sunday 16th March 2025

Ireland’s largest annual celebration of trees and forests

National Tree Week is organised by the Tree Council of Ireland and proudly supported by Coillte. 150,000 tree saplings will be donated to local community groups, with events happening nationwide to encourage tree planting and environmental awareness.

"Planting Trees, Growing Together" – This year’s theme highlights the deep connection between trees, people, and the environment, emphasising how tree planting fosters stronger communities, promotes sustainability, and prepares us for a changing climate.

To celebrate National Tree Week in Co. Leitrim, there is a free public walk exploring the ancient oak woodland of Garadice on Sunday 9th March 2025 at 2pm.

Join Biodiversity Officer, Rebeccah Cogan and Arborculturist, Shailagh Healy to learn more about woodland biodiversity and the wondrous workings of the trees of Garadice.

This is a free public event and no booking is necessary. All Welcome!

Meet at Garadice Lake Shore and Walk  car park (near Drumreilly Church of Ireland).
