Private Well Supplies

 Registration of private well supplies used as part of commercial or public activities

If you have your own private water supply, such as a well, and you are using this water as part of a public or commercial activity, you should register this with Leitrim County Council in accordance with the European Union (Drinking Water Regulations) 2023. The Council will then carry out tests on the water quality to ensure that the water supply is safe for drinking in line with the Drinking Water Regulations 2023.

If you are the owner of a private well supply being used as part of a commercial or public authority, then you should register this property with the Council. Examples of the types of premises include schools, creches, shops, community centres, public houses, food establishments, etc.

An application form can be downloaded on our website at the following location www.leitrim.ie/council/services/water-services/drinking-water regulations/ and should be completed in full and e-mailed or posted to the address below:
