Announcing the successful projects today, Minister Humphreys said:

I am very pleased to announce over €11.4 million for 264 projects under my Department’s CLÁR Programme. The projects we are funding today are based on a bottom-up approach; Ideas and proposals that have come directly from communities on the ground. From playgrounds and sports facilities to sensory gardens and community halls - these projects will make a really positive difference in towns and villages throughout Rural Ireland.

That is what we are about in the Department of Rural and Community Development – supporting our local and community groups in delivering the ambition and vision that they have for their areas.”

Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council, Councillor Paddy O’Rourke welcomed the Clár funding approved for County Leitrim commenting “This funding will ensure continued investment in towns and villages around County Leitrim. The communities of Leitrim have shown great enthusiasm and commitment for improving their local areas in recent years, and I am pleased to see this announcement today. I am confident that this funding will enhance the development of community walkways, sporting facilities and playgrounds in towns and villages throughout the County.”

Mr. Joseph Gilhooly Chief Executive continued “I welcome this investment by Minister Humphreys under the Clár programme. This funding will help to develop community facilities in these towns and villages, thereby making them attractive place to live and visit.”
