Protected Disclosures
The Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022 commenced on 1 January 2023. The purpose of the Act is to provide a framework to promote and encourage the development of a positive workplace culture in which raising concerns regarding potential wrongdoing is valued and appropriate action is taken by employers in response to such disclosures.
Leitrim County Council has a Protected Disclosure Policy and Procedures in place through which is intended to foster a culture and work environment within which workers are encouraged and supported in making reports in the knowledge that their concerns will be taken seriously, will be investigated, where appropriate, and that their confidentiality will be respected. This policy applies to all Leitrim County Council workers including contractors, consultants, agency staff, former employees and interns/trainees.
